Hardshell Hyperbaric Chamber Buying Checks

News Article 1460

Seeing a device with a robust exterior and a transparent window, it’s easy to immediately classify it as a hard-shell hyperbaric chamber. However, appearance is not the only factor that truly influences equipment selection. Under the same "hard shell" name, it may be a single horizontal, single sitting, walk-in or multi-person structure, and the pressure, oxygen supply mode, entry mode and site requirements may also be completely different.

When purchasing a hardshell hyperbaric chamber, don’t rush to compare its appearance and price just yet. Only by aligning the model, configuration, rated pressure, oxygen supply scheme, crew capacity, and installation requirements item by item can you determine whether the equipment in the quotation belongs to the same product category.

First, Confirm What the "Hard Shell" Describes

The core feature of a hard-wall hyperbaric chamber is its rigid pressure-resistant shell. It can be configured as a single-occupant pod or a multi-occupant pod; users can lie down, sit, or step into it through the door. Here, the term “hard shell” only indicates the structural category and does not automatically certify the material of the cabin, its pressure rating, intended use, or compliance status.

If only hard, hard-shell, metal or steel are written in the purchasing data, the information is still insufficient. Steel, aluminum, and acrylic structures cannot be used interchangeably based solely on these names. It is more prudent to require suppliers to specify the complete model, pressure shell material, manufacturing location, pressure vessel design basis and scope of application in the same specification document.

Also, don’t treat the transparent window as a material conclusion. Some devices combine a metal housing with a transparent viewing window; the size and position of the window primarily affect the viewing and user experience, and cannot alone indicate the material of the entire enclosure.

Single, Multiple and Posture Must Be Checked Separately

Monoplace means it can accommodate 1 user at a time, while multiplace means it can accommodate multiple occupants simultaneously. However, the number of people does not directly determine the workload, cabin air quality, or oxygen-supply method. In multi-person cabins, it is also necessary to distinguish between patients, accompanying persons, and cabin staff; the number of seats does not necessarily equal the rated passenger capacity.

The name of the pose can also easily lead to misinterpretation. Lying or bed usually describes a lying or tray structure, which does not mean that the equipment must be connected to a medical bed or stretcher; vertical it is a vertical layout, it is not equal to walk-in. When a wheelchair, stretcher or auxiliary transfer is required, check the net size of the entrance, threshold, turning space in the cabin, guide rail or tray, fixing method, rated load and space required to close the door.

Baobang's existing hardware products reflect this difference: HP1501, HP2202 and HP2202 DIA are horizontal hardware cabins, HP750 is a single-seat hardware cabin, and HE5000 Mono uses walk-in transparent doors. There are also face-to-face seats, two-seat, 3-seat, bed board, bench and four-person layout in the HE5000 series. Similar model names do not imply that the internal configurations are interchangeable.

Pressure Figures to Be Seen Together with Caliber

When comparing pressures, simply taking the digits “1.5” or “2.0” is insufficient. The quotation shall clearly specify the pressure units—ATA, atm, or psi—and distinguish between the normal operating pressure, the maximum allowable working pressure, and the relief set pressure. When psi is mentioned, also clarify whether it refers to psia or psig.

Higher pressure does not automatically equate to better fit, nor is it sufficient alone to demonstrate efficacy, safety, or compliance. Target pressure must be evaluated in conjunction with the structural design, oxygen delivery method, intended use, operating instructions, and supervision requirements. Even if the equipment is rated to achieve 2.0 ATA, it is still necessary to verify the hardware configuration, the gases used, the applicable standards, and the professional management requirements.

Take specific products as an example, the pressure specification of HP1501 is 1.5 ATA or 1.6 ATA;HP2202, HP2202 DIA, HP750 and HE5000 series are 2.0 ATA. This comparison can help the buyer to confirm the product range, and the document review for the target market and actual use is still to be completed separately.

The Oxygen Supply Method Cannot Be Inferred from the Outer Casing

The hardware single cabin may use oxygen as the pressurized medium in the cabin, or it may use air to pressurize and then supply oxygen through an independent breathing device. The actual method depends on the equipment design and allowable scope. Multi-person chambers are typically pressurized with compressed air and supply oxygen to the user via a face mask, hood, or other respiratory device.

Therefore, the inquiry should ask the supplier to write down the pressurized medium, breathing gas, oxygen concentration, oxygen supply interface, air and oxygen flow rate and exhaust method. Compressors, oxygen generators, cooling equipment and piping may belong to the same system, but no single component is equivalent to a complete manned hyperbaric oxygen chamber. External oxygen supply equipment should also not be self-connected without the support of equipment instructions.

Size Table to Solve the Problem of Moving In and Using

The external dimensions are just the starting point. First check the door width, turning space and clear height along the actual transportation route, and then look at the equipment weight, ground load, power supply, grounding, ventilation, fire protection and maintenance space. The hardware cabin usually ends without moving the main engine into the room, and the placement, maintenance and heat dissipation of ancillary equipment will also take up space.

Horizontal HP1501 and HP2202 are both 220cm in length and available in 75, 85 and 90cm diameters; HP2202 DIA is available in 90 and 100cm diameters. The width of HP750 is 96cm, and the data use these 33.33cm inches to pass through conventional doorways and reduce the occupied area. The purchaser shall still conduct on-site measurements of their passageways and door frames; “passable through standard doorways” does not constitute a guarantee for all sites.

The multiplayer HE5000 series has to check the external dimensions, weight and internal layout at the same time. For example, the HE5000 Plus can accommodate four people and weighs 850kg. Such figures directly affect the transport, ground and installation plan, and it is best to deal with it before the equipment arrives.

Ensure That Each Document Corresponds One-to-One with Its Physical Counterpart

The official quotation, bill of materials, technical specifications, labels, operating instructions, installation requirements, maintenance schedule, and safety data shall all refer to the same complete model. Declarations relating to pressure-bearing structures shall also indicate the standard version, certificate or mark holder, applicable type, place of manufacture and valid range. Just putting a standard name or logo is not enough to prove that the quoted equipment belongs to its coverage.

During acceptance, verify the equipment’s model, serial number, or unique identifier against the contract, instruction manual, licensing documents, and maintenance records. Please confirm which parties are responsible for installation, commissioning, operation training, maintenance training, warranty, and after-sales services, respectively. Web images and chat logs can facilitate communication, but they do not serve as substitutes for these documents.

Finally, put the candidate equipment into the same checklist: complete model, rigid shell material, rated pressure and caliber, pressurization and oxygen supply mode, rated load man, inlet and internal dimensions, machine weight, site conditions, target market documents, installation and service responsibilities. If any key field is still blank, fill in the information first before discussing which option is more suitable.
